Diamond grinding of stone floors:

MARBLE DIAMOND RESTORATION
DIAMOND RESURFACING OF MARBLE
MARBLE FLOOR RESTORATION BEFORE:
MARBLE FLOOR POLISHING AFTER:
This process is used on floors and counter tops when excessive wear or damage has occurred. The process is mechanical in nature and involves using a weighted floor buffer with diamond cutters attached beneath the machine. Just like sand paper, the diamond cutters are made in various grit configurations. The lower the grit, the more coarse the cut it will produce.

  • 1st step: cut the entire floor (or counter top) with a coarse diamond grit (50-100 grit) to remove the damaged surface of the stone.
  • 2nd step: cut the entire floor with the next less aggressive diamond grit cutter. (100-200).
  • 3rd step: same as step 2, but cut with a (200-400) diamond grit cutter.
  • 4th step: cut with (400-800) diamond grit cutter.
  • 5th step: cut with (800-1800) diamond grit cutter.
  • 6th step: paste polish the entire floor.
  • 7th step: allow the floor to dry overnight. Finish with application of solvent based penetrating sealer. The floor can now be walked on, but allow 72 hours for the sealer to cure before any mopping to the floor. Solvent sealer will protect the stone from any oil or organic debris. (no penetrating sealer will protect the stone from alcohols or acids!)
